Longview, WA – At today’s Commission meeting, the Port of Longview Board of Commissioners voted to narrow down the field of Chief Executive Officer applicants to two final candidates. In the next step of the recruitment process, stakeholders will have the opportunity to engage with the candidates and provide feedback to the Commission as they prepare for their final decision in naming the Port’s next CEO. Both candidates have experience and education in the maritime industry.

Dan Stahl is an internal candidate, and Interim CEO, who joined the Port in 2017 as the Chief Operating Officer. He is responsible for commercial contract negotiations and oversight of the Business Development, Engineering, and Environmental and Marine Terminal Operations functions. Prior to joining the Port, he was the Director of Maritime at the Port of Bellingham, Washington, and the Executive Director at the Port of Anacortes, Washington. Stahl has more than 25 years of port management experience. He received a Master of Science in Oceans Systems Management from Massachusetts Institute of Technology after receiving his bachelor’s in Marine Transportation from the Maine Maritime Academy.

Gus Hein is currently the Principal of Global Business Advocates, a multi-disciplinary consulting company providing advocacy services to global corporate and government clients.  His experience includes international business development, board advisory, government relations and organizational planning. Prior, he served as the Executive Officer to the Board of Harbor Commissioners at the Port of Long Beach where his responsibilities included Board advisory on policy issues, government relations and oversight of trade missions. He received a Master of Business Administration from Pepperdine University and his Certificate for Transportation and Logistics Management from California State University Long Beach.
