MISSION STATEMENT To provide expansion and development of foreign and domestic trade, to encourage commercial and industrial development, and to enhance waterfront recreational activities for the economic benefit of the citizens of the Port district.
The Port of Longview has been operating since 1921 and today has eight marine terminals and waterfront industrial property located on the deep-draft Columbia River, 66 miles from the Pacific Ocean in southwest Washington State.
The Port plays an important role in economic development by creating jobs in manufacturing and international trade. It develops infrastructure to support these jobs at its marine terminals and industrial property, creating a positive economic ripple that strengthens the local community.
Since 1921 international trade has grown and the types of cargos handled by the Port have diversified. Cargo handling specialties include all types of bulk cargos and breakbulk commodities such as steel, lumber, logs, pulp, paper, project and heavy-lift cargo.
Security at ports has changed since the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack. The Port of Longview works vigilantly with the U.S. Coast Guard to guard public safety and provide emergency response.
