Ken O'Hollaren, Executive Director

Ken O'Hollaren has served as the Executive Director of the Port of Longview since January 1988. Ken joined the Port in 1980 as Assistant Operations Manager, later becoming the assistant to the Executive Director. Prior to joining the Port of Longview, Ken worked in Portland as Operations Manager for Overseas Shipping Company and Evergreen Line.

Ken is a past Chairman of the Board of the American Association of Port Authorities, a trade association of public ports located throughout the western hemisphere. He is also Chairman of the Interstate Columbia River Improvement Project, a bi-state coalition of ports along the lower Columbia organized to promote the deepening of the Columbia river navigation channel.

Ken earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Oregon in Political Science and Latin American Studies in 1977 and an M.B.A. from the University of Portland in 1987.

Ken resides in Longview with his wife Denise and has two children, Emily and Timothy.

Norm Krehbiel, Deputy Director/ Director of Facilities & Engineering

Norm Krehbiel

Norm joined the Port in 1993 as the Director of Facilities and Engineering where he is responsible for the construction and maintenance of all new and existing facilities at the Port. In 2008, Norm was promoted to Deputy Director.

Having more than 14 years related experience, Norm previously worked for the City of Redmond Engineering Department and Deschutes County Road Department.

Norm received his bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Oregon State University in 1979 and is a Professional Engineer in Oregon and Washington, as well as a Professional Land surveyor in Oregon.

Norm resides in Longview with his wife Denise and has two children.

Kathy Oberg, Director of Finance

Kathy Oberg

Kathy joined the Port as keypunch operator in 1969 and worked her way through the ranks to Director of Finance in 1987. She is responsible for the management of the Port's financial and administrative departments, as well as serving as the Assistant Treasurer for the Industrial Development Corporation of the Port of Longview. Kathy is also the Port's Auditor and Risk Manager, responsible for insurance and claims management.

She is an active member in both the American Association of Port Authorities and Washington Public Ports Association finance committees.

Kathy lives on a farm in Toledo with her husband Jeff. She enjoys spending time with her son Lance and two granddaughters.

Doug Averett, Director of Operations

Doug Averett

Doug started at the Port in 1987 as an Engineering Technician before moving into operations as a Superintendent.

In 2003, Doug was promoted to Director of Operations where he is responsible for all aspects of Operations, including the loading and unloading of vessels, all steady ILWU personnel and making sure that all labor and operating agreements are maintained.

In addition, he serves as the Facility Security Officer for the Port and charged with carrying out the Ports responsibilities for Homeland Security. He has attended various seminars and conferences throughout the years to gain different perspectives on the maritime industry.

Doug and his wife Kathy reside in Kelso and have a son, Tyler.

Jennifer E. Brown, Director of Information Services (Technology)

Jennifer E. Brown

Jennifer Brown has served as Director of Information Services since June 2007. Jennifer joined the Port in 2000 as Environmental Engineer and then Programmer/Analyst in 2005. Prior to joining the Port of Longview, Jennifer worked as an Engineer at Southwest Clean Air Agency in Vancouver, Washington, and as a project engineer for Armstrong World Industries in Lancaster, Pennsylvania; Mobile, Alabama, St. Helens, Oregon and Landsdale, Pennsylvania.

Jennifer earned her bachelor's degree from the University of New Hampshire in Engineering, and a certificate in Management Information Systems from Washington State University.

As Director of Information Services, Jennifer is responsible for the daily operation and planning of the Port's computers, network, telephone system, software and overall system data.

Jennifer resides in Longview with her husband Kevin and her two children, Meagan and Natalie.

Ashley Helenberg, Communications/Public Affairs Manager


Ashley joined the Port as Communications and Public Affairs Manager in 2008. Her responsibilites include media relations, community relations and event planning, among many other related communications activities.

She received her bachelor's degree from the University of Washington in Communications and Political Science. Ashley is active in the local community and a proud member of the local United Way Board of Directors.

Ashley actively participates in the public relations committees for both the American Association of Port Authorities and Washington Public Ports Association, among other industry related groups. She is also a member of the Cowlitz group of Public Information Officers, for which she has several certifications in Incident Command Systems from the Department of Homeland Security.

Ashley resides in Castle Rock, Washington, with her husband Adam and son Aiden.

Lisa Hendriksen, Environmental Manager

Lisa Hendriksen

Lisa joined the Port in 2010 as the Environmental Manager. Prior to joining the Port, she worked for many years in the environmental and planning profession, most recently as Planning Manager for Cowlitz County Building and Planning.

She received her undergraduate degree in Anthropology with a minor in Sociology from Southern Oregon University and her Masters in Urban and Regional Planning from Portland State University. Lisa is also a member of the American Planners Association.

Laurie Nelson, Manager of Business Development

Laurie Nelson

Laurie Nelson has served as Manager of Business Development for the Port of Longview since September 2008. Prior to joining the Port, Laurie worked in Portland as a Project Manager and Business Analyst in the automobile and heavy truck industry for ADP.

Laurie is a current member of Lower Columbia Transportation Association, Maritime Commerce Club and the National Defense Transportation Association.

Laurie attended Chemeketa Community College in 1987.

Laurie resides in Kalama with her fiancé Nate and has two children, Logan and Skylar.
