Port Commission

The Port of Longview Commissioners serve as the governing body of the Port of Longview. Three non-partisan commissioners are elected every six years and are directly responsible to the voters for port district operations. Each commissioner is elected from the district they reside in. Below is a listing of Port of Longview commissioners elected to office since 1921 and the length of their term in office.

Managers

Frank Gowdy

Frank Gowdy
1927-1943

The Port of Longview has had only six managers during its 85 years of operation. Three of those, Frank Gowdy, Harvey Hart and Bob McNannay (all deceased) provided leadership for 59 years. No photo is available for the first manager, H.L. Tabke. He was hired in 1925 and served until 1927.

Frank Gowdy succeeded Mr. Tabke in 1927 and remained at the helm until he passedaway in 1943.

Harvey Hart, an accountant at thePort since 1930, succeeded Mr. Gowdy in 1943. He was employed at the Port fora total of 43 years.
Bob McNannay

Bob McNannay
1973-1986

Bob McNannay was hired in 1949 asan auditor, then moved up to executive assistant to Mr. Hart, and succeeded him in December 1973. Mr. McNannay retired in 1986 after 37 years with the Port. He passed away in 2005.   Brian Fladager

Brian Fladager succeeded Mr. McNannay in 1986 and served less than two years.
