When are the Commission Meetings?
Minutes and Agendas - Commission meetings are generally held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, at 2:00 p.m., at the Port offices. However, meeting details are subject to change. For official notification, you may request to be added to the notification list.
Are Commission Meetings open to the public?
Minutes and Agendas - Yes, the public is invited to attend.
How do I get on a list to receive notices and agendas?
Meeting Notices - The Port's Executive Assistant maintains the list of individuals who have requested to receive notice of commission meetings. If you would like to be placed on the notice list, please contact the Port's Executive Assistant, in writing, and ask to be placed on the notice list. As all notices are sent out via email.

Commissioners & Governance - District #1 is represented by Commissioner Darold Dietz; District #2 is represented by Commissioner Dan Buell, and District #3 is represented by Commissioner Bob Bagaason.
When do Commissioner's terms expire?
Commissioners & Governance - District #1 position (currently held by Darold Dietz) expires December 31, 2015. District #2 position (currently held by Lou Johnson) expires December 31, 2017. District #3 position (currently held by Bob Bagaason) expires December 31, 2013.

Why does the Port collect taxes?
Taxation - In 1911 the Legislature authorized citizens to form port districts and implement an annual property tax levy of $2 per $1,000 of assessed value of taxable property within the district.
Since 1911 the Legislature has reduced the annual property tax authorization for port districts to $0.45 per $1,000 of assessed value of taxable property within the district.
How much does the Port collect?
Taxation - The Port tax levy is currently 22 cents per $1,000 of assessed value of taxable property. The average Port District taxpayer pays $33 in taxes to the Port for a home valued at $150,000. The Port tax levy consists of approximately 3 percent of the total annual taxes collected by Cowlitz County.
What are taxes used for?
Taxation - Tax levy funds are used for capital facilities improvements such as docks, warehouses, cranes and transportation infrastructure and repayment of general obligation bond debt. These improvements are designed to produce more tonnage, more ship calls and more economic activity in the Port District community, directly and indirectly benefitting taxpayers in the form of jobs and commerce.
