Darold Dietz was elected to the Board of Commissioners in 2007 to represent the citizens of District 1.
He brings many years of business experience to the Commission, having owned and operated Dietz Brothers Trucking with his brother Butch for more than 25 years. Darold became familiar with the Port when Dietz Brothers worked on Port construction projects and was often hired to transfer bulk commodities from vessel to storage.
After closing Dietz Brothers Trucking, he began his career as a longshoreman in 1994 until retiring in 2007, when he started running for his position on the Board of Commissioners.
Darold currently serves on the Kelso-Longview Regional Airport Advisory Board and represents the Port on the Pacific Northwest Waterways Association Board. He is also a member of the ILWU Local 21 Pensioners.
Darold moved to the area from Montana as young child. Following graduation from R.A. Long High School, Darold served three years in the Army, one of which in Vietnam. He and his wife Evalyn raised three sons, David, Dennis and Douglas, in the Longview home where he still lives. He enjoys working in his shop and spending time with his two young grandchildren, Deacon and Madyson.

Lou Johnson joined the Port Commission to represent District 2 in January 2012.
Lou, a second generation longshoreman, joined the ILWU Local 21 on his 18th birthday and worked 30 years loading and unloading cargo vessels before taking his current position as a marine clerk with Local 40.
In 1976, Lou took a break from the docks to join the Army as an Engineer in Fort Riley, Kansas, and Nuremburg, Germany. After completing his tour in 1980, he returned to the Port where he has worked ever since.
Throughout his career he served on the ILWU’s Labor Relations Committee as a liaison between the Port and the union, working to resolve labor issues and provide manning solutions for cargo handling. He has also spent time on the union’s Executive Board, charged with researching issues and making recommendations to the body.
Lou, a lifelong local resident, graduated from R.A. Long High School. He and his wife Tracy, a Kelso graduate, have been married 30 years and still enjoy a friendly Kelso vs. R.A. Long rivalry when it comes to local sports. They have two grown daughters, Jamie, an RN in Longview, and Sara, who is also a longshoreman in Local 21. In his spare time he enjoys barbequing, hunting and fishing, traveling with his wife and playing with his two grandchildren, Brayden and Emmalee.
Lou believes strongly in the value of relationships; which is why he looks forward creating opportunities for the Port to spend more time with customers and out in the community.
